In this guide you set up your Dimensions in Adbase and label your best ads with them. Your AI tool does the work through the Adbase connector. You check and approve.
Dimensions are the labels on your ads: which product, persona, angle, offer and creator an ad is about.
What Dimensions give you
See what works across all your ads. Which angle, persona or offer performs, not just which single ad.
Know what to make next. Which angles to build on, and which personas you haven't tested yet.
Ad names without the manual work. Adbase builds every ad name from its Dimensions.
How it works
Get to know the Dimensions. Six standard ones, and you can add your own.
Fill your Dimensions. From your ads and reviews, or from a document you already have.
Label your top ads. Your AI tool labels your 50 highest-spend ads.
Works with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. The examples use Claude.
Before you start
Ad account connected in Adbase, last 360 days imported
Adbase connector enabled in your AI tool (see Connect Adbase to your AI tool)
Important: don't switch brands in Adbase while the AI tool is working. It loses access.
Multiple brands? Add the brand name to every prompt.
Part 1. Get to know the Dimensions
Every brand starts with six Dimensions. Each one holds values: Persona is the Dimension, Disappointed Replacer is a value. Each value has a name, an image and a document.
You find them in Adbase under Results → Dimensions. You can create Dimensions and values in two ways:
By hand in Results → Dimensions. Fine for a few values.
With your AI tool via the Adbase connector. Faster when you have many, and the approach this guide uses.
Dimension | What it is |
Product | What you sell |
Persona | Who buys and why |
Angle | How you reach that persona |
Offer | The deal or promotion |
Creator | Who makes the content |
Awareness | How aware the viewer is of the problem or product |
Awareness is pre-filled with Eugene Schwartz's five stages: Unaware, Problem aware, Solution aware, Product aware, Most aware. You don't need to add anything.
Add your own for anything you want to measure across your ads, like language, ad format or creative strategist. Test: would you want it as a filter in Results? Then it's a Dimension.
Only add what you use: values you advertise with or want to test. Values you never use only clutter your lists. You can add more later.
Part 2. Fill your Dimensions
Route A: from your ads and/or reviews. For when you've never defined personas and angles.
Route B: from what you already have. For when you've written them down, in a file or a tool like Notion.
Route A: from your ads and/or reviews
Step 1. Find personas, angles, products and offers
Use your ads, your reviews, or both. Reviews show why people buy, ads show which of those reasons already work. Both gives the best result.
Using reviews? Export them as a CSV from your review app and attach it. Then use this prompt:
Find the personas, angles, products and offers for [BRAND], based on [my ads / the attached reviews CSV / both]. [Optional: also use the attached product list / promo calendar.] 1. Ads: get the 50 ads with the highest spend in the last 360 days. 2. For each ad, read the transcript or description of the creative in Adbase. That's leading. Use the ad copy as support. Note which problem it addresses, who it talks to, what it promises. 3. Reviews: find why people bought (the situation before buying, the doubt, what they wanted). Use their own words. 4. Group everything into personas by buying intent, not demographics. Group the angles under each persona. Output: - Per persona: name (max 4 words), buying intent (1–2 sentences), 2 customer quotes (if reviews), number of reviews, number of ads, total spend. - Per angle: name (max 4 words), persona, number of ads, total spend. - Per product and per offer: name, number of ads, total spend. Don't create anything in Adbase yet.
Keep the strongest: most reviews or most spend.
Step 2. Check products and offers
Claude takes them from your ads. Attach a product list or promo calendar to fill the gaps.
Products: only what you advertise. Separately advertised bundles or variants get their own value.
Offers: for example a first-order discount, free shipping or a bundle price. Add a "No offer" value, so you can compare ads with and without one.
Step 3. Create them in Adbase
In the same chat:
Create this list in Adbase. - Reuse existing values, no duplicates. Leave Awareness as it is. - Put the explanation in each value's document. For angles, include the persona they belong to. - Products: add the product link. Offers: add the link and valid dates, plus a "No offer" value. Skip what you don't know. - Work in batches and report what's done and what's left.
Then add product images in Results → Dimensions → Product.
→ Next: check your Dimensions, then Part 3 in the same chat. Claude has already seen your ads, so labelling goes faster.
Route B: from what you already have
Your personas, angles, products and offers are already written down somewhere. Claude reads them and turns them into Dimensions in Adbase.
Step 1. Give Claude access to your material
Pick one:
Upload a file: a spreadsheet, PDF or doc. Attach it to the chat.
Use a connector: is it in Notion, Google Drive or another tool? Enable that tool's connector in Claude as well (Customize → Connectors) and share the link to the page or file.
Step 2. Run the prompt
Set up my Dimensions in Adbase from [the attached file / this page: LINK]. It contains my [personas, angles, products, offers]. 1. Check existing Dimensions and values in Adbase. Reuse them, no duplicates. Leave Awareness as it is. 2. Propose new values as a table per Dimension: Name | Explanation | Source in my material. Don't create anything yet. Rules: - Names: max 4 words. They go into the ad name. - Personas: named by buying intent, not demographics. - Nothing that isn't in my material. - Only values I advertise with or want to test. If unclear, ask me. - If something doesn't fit an existing Dimension, suggest a new one and say why. - List what you skip and why. After my approval, create everything and put the explanation in each value's document. Work in batches and report what's done and what's left.
Step 3. Review the proposal
Names: short, they go into the ad name. Good:
Disappointed Replacer. Bad:Persona 1.Duplicates: merge values that mean almost the same. Otherwise your results get split.
Unused values: remove what you don't advertise or plan to test.
New Dimensions: keep only what you want to measure.
Skipped items: Claude lists what it left out. Add it if it belongs in.
Step 4. Approve
Claude creates everything in Adbase, in batches. Reply "continue" after each round.
Step 5. Add links and images
Often missing from your material. Add them in Results → Dimensions → Product.
→ Next: check your Dimensions, then Part 3.
Check your Dimensions
Check in Results → Dimensions. Take the documents seriously: in Part 3, your AI tool uses them to label your ads.
Products: only what you advertise, each with link and image
Personas: named by buying intent, document filled
Angles: document filled, persona mentioned
Offers: "No offer" included, active offers have dates
Extra Dimensions: only the ones you'll actually filter on in Results
All values: no duplicates, max 4 words
Part 3. Label your top ads
Label your top 50 ads, so your history counts from day one.
Step 1. Run the prompt
After Route A with ads, in the same chat:
Assign the Dimensions to the 50 ads you just analysed. First show me a table: | Ad | Spend | [one column per Dimension] | Confidence (high/medium/low) | Don't assign anything yet.
After Route A with reviews only, or after Route B, in a new chat:
Label the 50 highest-spend ads of the last 360 days for [BRAND] with Dimensions. The ad names don't follow a naming convention. Base the labels on the transcript or description of each creative in Adbase. That's leading. Use the ad copy as support. 1. Get the existing Dimensions and values. Reuse them where possible. 2. Per ad, pick a value for every Dimension in the account, including extra ones like language or ad format. 3. If nothing fits, suggest a new value and mark it NEW. Output as a table: | Ad | Spend | [one column per Dimension] | Confidence (high/medium/low) | Why (1 sentence) | Then: - All NEW values, with how often they come up - Patterns, like which angle or persona has the most spend Don't assign anything yet.
Step 2. Review the table
Low confidence: check those ads yourself.
NEW values: use an existing one if it fits.
Creator: often faster to spot yourself.
Not visible in the ad (e.g. creative strategist): Claude can't tell, so fill these in yourself.
Step 3. Assign
Approved, with these changes: [CHANGES]. Create any new values and assign the Dimensions. Start with the first 5 ads.
Check them in Library → Ads, then reply "continue".
Step 4. Check Results
Go to Results → Performance and look per Dimension. One value with almost all the spend, or many unlabelled ads? Then a value is wrong or missing.
→ Next: set Dimensions on every new concept. Its ads inherit them.
